Thinking about a boss my mind goes to something like Flazzard from "Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai" but with other combinations, like half stone/half poison or half lighting/half acid... something like that :D

how about a cosmic sphynx that uses portals for movement and attacking/traps?
the battle could take place across several chambers connected by walkways, but also by the sphynx's portals, and she attacks by opening another type of portal to summon meteors or she could fire a "light beam" by opening a portal right next to a star, etc.
A powerful, interdimensional boss! Sounds like a lot of fun—probably tricky to implement, but it could be a really exciting challenge! I appreciate it!
Ever heard of Muffet from undertale? I think such humanoid spider concept can be expanded into something interesting, like fusing both spider and human anatomy into something more interesting. Just an idea I had.

Here are my favorites:
Goblin - weak but quick
Hobgoblin - standard fighter who buffs goblins
Bugbear - long-armed lazy monster who swipes/pokes with long ranged melee
Orc - big brute who rages as they lose
Troll - big hp monster who can regen and adapt to damage and/or environement
Ogre - big glutton who eats in combat. can eat magic and become an Oni, a powerfull version
I'm a little late to this but I would love to see an aboleth boss. They are my favorite d&d monsters. A queen type tentacle lady that just looks down on you because you are a lesser being
it's never too late. And I love that idea... oh just imagine those giant tentacles trapping the main characters....
